Contactless Credit Card Deals - Are They Worth Applying for?
We live in the century of scientific and technological progress. All modern inventions are intended to make our life easier and more comfortable. Cashless money transactions, cordless phones, wireless keyboard. What other "lesses" can we expect from up-to-date technologies? Contactless credit cards are one of latest credit card market innovations.
These cards have an embedded microchip in them instead of a magnetic stripe that regular plastics have. Paying for some purchase with your contactless credit card you do not have to swipe it through a magnetic card reader. All you need to do is just to take it out of your pocket or wallet and wave it within just a few inches of a special Radio Frequency Identification (RFI) card reader.
Contactless cards are very convenient. Waving a card is faster than swiping it through a machine and rummaging through your purse or case in the search of your pen to put your signature on a receipt afterwards. When you shop with a contactless plastic, you just wave your card, take the receipt and leave. This shortens the time a customer spends at the register and helps to avoid long lines.
Major credit card companies, such as MasterCard, Visa and American Express offer such cards. The plastics are regular credit card deals. So, if you decide to apply for one of such cards you will by no means be restricted in the choice of a plastic.
You can pick any card you need: consumer, business credit cards, cards for any type of credit history, balance transfer cards and many others. Just select a deal that coincides with your demands, incomes and lifestyle and fill out a regular credit card application.
Card readers for contactless cards are set mostly in places with an intensive customer flow. Convenience, grocery stores, fast food restaurants, gas stations, and the like most probably to accept your contactless credit card. This saves your time. You will appreciate such a card especially if you are a very busy person and do everything on the run.
But there is the other side of the coin. Contactless credit cards have some shortcomings. It might come as a surprise for you, but this new technology stimulates you to spend more money than a regular credit card. The process of making purchases becomes faster and easier and parting with your money becomes absolutely painless.
Another problem you might face using this kind of card is being charged for another person's purchases. In case you come up too close to a card reader with a contactless plastic in your hand, the machine will read your data with the account number. And you risk paying for the person that stands in line in front of you. So, be careful and keep you card in an enclosed wallet, for instance.
And the main problem you come across when you own such a card is credit fraud. This is a rather serious issue. While 2 above-mentioned problems are something that you can handle on your own, your personal information security does not always depend on your discretion. Though credit card companies provide a high level of protection from credit fraud, a skillful scammer with an RFI card reader can steal your personal information.
So, as any newly-launched technology, this system has its virtues and shortcomings. But it should be mentioned that both, credit card companies and credit experts find contactless credit cards very promising. So, keep pace with up-to-the-minute trends, thousands of credit card holders have already given their preferences to this modern innovation.
