Survival Manual for Holiday Purchases Credit Card Deals
September 28, 2007
How many times have you promised yourself: next Christmas everything will be different? I'll make a list of all my friends and family, I'll save enough money for presents, I'll make all purchases beforehand.
Next holiday comes, and the scheme repeats again. And again after holidays you end up with huge holes in your pockets, and enormous bills to pay. You keep curing yourself and give another pack of vows.
"Holiday hangover", that's how financial experts call this Almost every adult in America suffers this kind of disease from time to time. From holiday to holiday, to be more precise. And it's quite normal. You just don't have enough time to prepare and foresee everything.
It's not a secret for anyone that holiday shopping season is the most profitable time for merchants. The sales rates skyrocket as most people outrush to the stores and snap up everything that could remind a present.
Both, retailers and consumers plunge into holiday bustle with enthusiasm. But after the holidays retailers' high spirits increases to the maximum, when they count the money earned over the holiday season. While holiday hype victims' enthusiasm turns into a cry from the heart: How am I going to get rid of all these debts?!
In fact, to escape undesirable debts and going over your credit limit you are to follow several simple rules.
The first item in your holiday financial management plan, by councilors' advice, should be to sit down and choose the credit card for purchases you will use during holidays. The best choice in this case will be a low interest rate credit card deal. This will allow you not overpay for your credit.
You can also consider credit cards applications that come with 0% Introductory APR if you are confident that you will be able to pay off the whole sum before your introductory period runs out. Otherwise, you'll have to pay a sum way higher than you actually spent on holiday goods.
Make a list of all persons whom you intend to present something. And a separate approximate list of things you are planning to buy. If you do this in advance you'll have the time for surfing online shops or drop in to the stores and malls. This will be a good chance to compare the prices.
Assign the maximum amount of money you can spend on holiday gifts. And split it among all people on the list.
Try to save some cash beforehand, this will help you to avoid going into large debts.
Next on your plan will be the process of purchasing itself. Try to stay out of overall pre-holiday hysteria and avoid impulsive buying. Once your holiday credit funds expire, put your credit card away.
Take advantage of any rewards you have saved. Many credit card deals offer gift certificates or cash rebates that you can use during holiday season.
And remember, it's not just presents that make your close people happy, and not all those numerous expensive purchases that create the atmosphere of holiday. It's sincerity, love and devotion that will everybody remember after holiday fuss. So, don't gloom this wonderful time by thinking of how to pay off your debts afterwards.
If you stick to this manual your credit and mind will be safe and sound.
